Set in Maxim’s home state of Hawaii, “All for Melissa” tells the story of Jared Rogers (Milan Tresnak), an aspiring filmmaker obsessed with winning the heart of a certain famous Hollywood actress. Jared determinedly sets out across the Pacific Ocean to pursue his dreams, but his hilarious and ill-fated journey ultimately teaches him that true happiness may be found right next door. Maxim played Jared as a youngster with a head full of dreams, much to the chagrin of his father. This was Maxim’s FIRST project, and he learned from seasoned scene partner Andy Bumatai how to use improvisation to make their scene even funnier. Director Gerard Elmore admired 7-year-old Maxim’s acting instincts right from the first audition. Said Elmore, “I remember looking at a bunch of kids (for the role). From the first second, we were like, ‘This is the kid.’ He was just a natural. He listened to what I wanted, but he also did a lot of stuff on his own, which is how you know you have a natural. What you need is for a kid to take your instructions and expand on them.” (“Honolulu Star Bulletin,” dated Aug 13, 2009) “All for Melissa” is not rated but is intended for mature audiences. It is available on DVD and instant download.
